Bayer agree personal terms with Kolasinac - Departures more likely at this point
According to a report by Sport Bild, Bayer Leverkusen are in the final stages of negotiating a deal to sign Sead Kolasinac. Leverkusen want to strengthen the squad after selling Kevin Volland and Kai Havertz for a combined fee of over €100 million. Die Werkself is now negotiating a deal with Arsenal to sign Kolasinac, personal terms are not yet agreed, but here negotiations appear to be on the verge of a breakthrough.
The biggest obstacle thus far has been Kolasinac's salary. The defender earns €9 million a season in the Premier League. Leverkusen want to compensate for a lower salary with a multi-year contract. The pay could also be a sticking point for negotiations with the Premier League club; Leverkusen will argue for a lower fee as they are taking the player off Arsenal's books.
Bayer Leverkusen club sources: Departures more likely than new arrivals
Transfermarkt can confirm through their own sources that there has been contact between the player and the Bundesliga side. But a transfer is far from imminent, furthermore it is more likeley that players will leave the team before there a new signings. Die Werkself want to sell one defender before the window shuts. Both Wendell and Jonathan Tah are candidates for a transfer. Last week Leverkusen added Santiago Arias on loan from Atlético Madrid.
